The attorneys at Stembridge Law regularly counsel employers on many areas of employment law including: equal employment opportunity/discrimination claims; leaves of absence and disability accommodation; wage and hour issues; hiring, performance management and termination; staffing, independent contractors and contingent workers; and policies, procedures and employee handbooks.

We believe that with well-written policies, effective communication, and proper performance management, any issue can be resolved prior to developing into a potentially expensive dispute. We work with clients to draft effective policies and employee handbooks. We routinely provide training on how to communicate with employees and how to document those communications, and we work hand-in-hand with clients on managing employee performance.

Recent changes to laws and regulations related to the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) require employers to address leave of absence and disability accommodation issues with increasing frequency. We have years of experience handling leave issues, including the unique perspective gained from litigating FMLA and ADA cases for both employers and for employees, which allow us to address leave of absence and accommodation issues with a solution-based approach.

At some point, almost every employer, small or large, has had to deal with a wage and hour issue. Whether it was the Department of Labor’s threatened changes to the salary basis test in 2016, an employee who claims they were not paid for all hours worked, or perhaps a Department of Labor wage/hour audit, we have experience dealing with these and every other type of wage and hour claim, ranging from employee misclassification, unpaid overtime, to improper deductions from paychecks.
